Orison

Terms of Service

Version 2026-07, amended 15 August and 6 September 2026, with subscription terms version 2026-09 · Published 7 September 2026 · Applies to the Orison app in early access, from that date

care@orison.day

Orison writes you a personal daily prayer, generated by AI from your birth chart and the tradition you choose. It is a spiritual companion, not a doctor, therapist, or crisis line. The free tier is genuinely free. Premium is a subscription you buy and cancel through Apple or Google, on their billing terms. Your intentions stay yours. Your kept prayers stay yours: if your subscription ends, nothing you were already given is ever taken away. Be kind to the service, and we will be honest with you.

Where things stand. Orison is in early access. If you are using the app now, these terms are the ones that apply to you, from the date above. They are also still being reviewed by our lawyers, so some of their wording may change. When it does, we will publish a new version on this page, and if the change matters to you, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Orison Premium is not on sale yet; the subscription section is here so you can read it in advance, and it applies from the day Premium goes on sale.

Who we are, and what Orison is

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Orison Lab Pty Ltd, ACN 700 874 513, ABN 84 700 874 513, an Australian proprietary limited company registered in New South Wales, trading as Orison Lab (“Orison”, “we”, “us”). They cover your use of the Orison mobile application and any related services (together, the “Service”).

By creating an account or using the Service you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the Service. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data. It is a separate document, and where it makes a promise about your data, that promise stands on its own.

If you downloaded Orison from the Apple App Store or Google Play, the additional terms under Terms required by Apple and Google also apply. These Terms are between you and us, not between you and Apple or Google.

Orison is a personalised daily prayer service. You give us your birth details and the spiritual tradition you pray in, with your explicit consent as described in the Privacy Policy, and each day the Service writes you a prayer shaped by your birth chart, the day's influences, and, if you choose to write one, your prayer intention. The Service also includes an ambient prayer room and, on the premium tier, further features described on the offer screen.

Three honest facts about what you are getting:

  • Your prayers are written by an artificial intelligence. Every prayer is generated by an AI model from structured facts about your chart and preferences. No human, and no member of any clergy, writes, reviews, or approves your individual prayers before you see them. We work hard on reverence and quality, and every tradition is built with review standards behind it, but a given prayer is machine-generated text and may occasionally be imperfect, awkward, or not to your taste.
  • Orison is not a religious authority. A prayer from Orison is not doctrine. It is not issued or endorsed by any church, mosque, temple, synagogue, sangha, or other religious body, and it is not a substitute for the guidance of your own clergy or community. The astrological and BaZi elements are offered as reflective, personal-meaning content, not as prediction or fact.
  • The daily prayer changes over time. Un-kept prayers are ephemeral by design: a prayer you do not keep is deleted after a grace period, as the Privacy Policy describes. Keeping a prayer is your choice, and the downgrade promise describes what we promise about prayers you keep.

Age

You must be at least 16 years old to use Orison. The app checks your birth date before any of your details are stored, and will not go further if you are under 16.

Your account

  • Sign-in. You sign in with your Apple or Google account; there is no Orison password. You are responsible for keeping your Apple or Google account secure, and for activity that happens under your Orison account through it.
  • Accuracy. The Service personalises from what you give it. You agree to provide information that is yours and, to your knowledge, accurate. One account per person; your account is for you, not for resale or sharing.
  • Deleting your account. You can delete your account at any time, in the app. Deletion is real and immediate on our live systems, as the Privacy Policy describes, and it also ends these Terms between us. Deleting your account does not by itself cancel a store subscription; Cancelling explains how.

Not medical care, not therapy, not crisis support

Orison is prayer. It is not medical care, mental-health care, therapy, counselling, or crisis intervention, and it is not a substitute for any of them. The Service does not diagnose, treat, or advise on any physical or mental-health condition. Nothing in a generated prayer, or anywhere else in the Service, is medical, psychological, legal, financial, or other professional advice. Decisions about your health, safety, or wellbeing belong with you and qualified professionals, never with an app.

About the safety feature. The Service includes an automated safety check: if something you write in a prayer intention appears to signal crisis or self-harm, the app responds with warmth and real support resources for your region instead of a generated prayer. We built this because we will never knowingly answer distress with silence. Please understand exactly what it is and is not:

  • It is an automated text check, not human monitoring. No person reads your intentions or watches over your account.
  • It is not reliable crisis detection. An automated check can miss signals, misread them, or respond imperfectly. We do not promise, and you should not expect, that Orison will recognise a crisis or respond appropriately to one.
  • It creates no monitoring or rescue undertaking. The presence of this feature does not make Orison a crisis service, a mandated reporter, or a caregiver, and it does not create any duty to monitor your use of the Service or to intervene.
  • The support resources shown, for example a national helpline, are operated by third parties. We choose them with care, but we do not control them and are not responsible for their availability or their advice.
  • It is a best-effort courtesy, not a service you are entitled to rely on. Never choose to use Orison, and never delay contacting real help, because you expect this feature to catch or protect you.

If you are in immediate danger or thinking about harming yourself, do not rely on Orison. Contact your local emergency services or a crisis helpline right now.

Your intentions

If you write a prayer intention, it remains yours. You give us a limited, non-exclusive, revocable licence to process your intention for exactly two purposes, the same two named in the consent you gave when you first wrote one: weaving your words into that day's prayer, and the safety check described above. Nothing else. We do not use your intentions to train AI models, we never share them, and we never send them back out over the network, as the Privacy Policy describes. Clearing your intention, or deleting your account, ends the licence.

You agree not to use the intention field to submit content that is unlawful, that infringes someone else's rights, or that consists of another person's private information submitted without their permission.

Your prayers, and what belongs to whom

Your prayers. Prayers generated for you are for your personal, non-commercial use, and we want you to live with them freely. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free licence to read, save, print, and share your prayers privately and non-commercially, including sending a prayer to someone who needs it. That licence survives the end of your subscription and the deletion of your account, for copies you already have.

What you may not do with generated prayers: sell them, mass-publish them as a collection, use them to build or train a competing product or dataset, or present them as written or endorsed by a religious authority.

A note on ownership, stated honestly: the legal status of ownership in AI-generated text is unsettled in many jurisdictions, and in some, including the United States, purely AI-generated material may not be protected by copyright at all. We grant you the licence above to the full extent of whatever rights we hold, and we will never assert rights against your personal, non-commercial use of your own prayers.

The Service. The app, the prayer room and its scenes and sounds, our designs, our text other than your prayers and your content, our software, and the Orison name and branding belong to us or our licensors. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on devices you own or control, for your personal, non-commercial use, in accordance with these Terms and, for store downloads, the applicable store's usage rules.

Orison Premium subscriptions

This section applies when Orison Premium is on sale. Premium is not on sale yet; the terms below take effect the day it is, and we will say so in the app.

Orison's daily prayer is free, and stays free. Orison Premium is a subscription you buy through Apple or Google, which renews on its own until you cancel, and which you cancel in your Apple or Google account, not in the app. The annual plan comes with a seven-day free trial; if you do not cancel before it ends, the annual price is charged. Refunds go through the store you bought from. Your legal rights as a consumer, wherever you live, sit above every line below.

What Premium is, and what stays free

  • The free tier is free, with no time limit: a personal daily prayer, the prayer room, and the candle. It is a real product, not a locked demo.
  • Choosing your tradition is free forever, on every tier. We will not charge anyone for their faith.
  • Orison Premium adds the things listed on the offer screen at the time you subscribe: currently further movements of your prayer (“Pray more”), the prayer room in its fullest depth, spoken prayers, and an unlimited journal of kept prayers. What Premium includes can grow; the downgrade promise governs what happens if it ever shrinks or if your subscription ends.

Plans and prices

Two plans, both auto-renewing: a monthly plan, billed every month, with no free trial; and an annual plan, billed every year, with a seven-day free trial. The price of each is shown in the store and in the app before you buy, in your local currency, and the store adds or includes tax as its rules require. The price you see on the purchase screen is the price you pay for the first period; Price changes explains how a later change reaches you.

The free trial, on the annual plan only

  • Seven days, on the annual plan only. The monthly plan has no trial.
  • Your payment method is captured by the store when you start the trial, and the annual price is charged automatically when the trial ends unless you cancel before then. To be safe on either store, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. The app and the offer screen say so plainly.
  • One trial per person. The stores enforce eligibility. If you have had a trial before, the store will show you the paid price instead, and the app will not promise a trial it cannot give.
  • Cancelling during the trial stops the charge.
  • We may change or withdraw the trial for new subscribers at any time. A change never affects a trial already running.

Auto-renewal

  • Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, for the same period and at the price then applicable to you, until you cancel.
  • The store charges your payment method at, or shortly before, the start of each new period.
  • To avoid a renewal charge, cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Cancelling later may still be processed by the store for the following period; that is the store's rule, and we cannot override it.

Who bills you, and who the seller is

  • Apple or Google bills you, under their own terms, to the payment method on your store account. We never see or store your card details.
  • Our subscription processor keeps track of your purchase so the app knows what you have paid for. It sees only an anonymous account code and your purchase records, never your prayers, your tradition, or your birth details. The Privacy Policy says exactly what it receives and when it is deleted.
  • Who the App Store seller is, for now. These Terms are with Orison Lab Pty Ltd. One step of moving the app to the company is still in progress: until Apple completes the change of our developer account from an individual to the company, the App Store lists Arman Abrahamyan, the company's founder, as the seller of record, and a purchase you make through the App Store in that window is, on the store's side, a contract with him personally under Apple's terms. Your rights under these Terms, and every promise in them, are the company's either way.

Cancelling

  • Cancel in your store account, not in the app. On iPhone or iPad, in your Apple account's Subscriptions settings. On Android, in Google Play under Payments and subscriptions. The app links you there.
  • Cancelling stops the next charge; it does not refund the current one. You keep Premium until the end of the period you have paid for, and then return to the free tier under the downgrade promise.
  • Uninstalling the app does not cancel your subscription.
  • Deleting your Orison account does not cancel your subscription either. Deletion erases your data with us and with our subscription processor, but the store keeps billing unless you cancel there. If you are subscribed, the app tells you this before you confirm deletion, and shows you where to cancel. You can delete first and cancel after; we will never make one wait on the other.

Price changes

  • A price change never applies retroactively, and never to a period you have already paid for.
  • Existing subscribers keep their price unless we tell you otherwise, in advance, through the store. Where founder pricing applies, it is honoured for the life of the subscription.
  • If a price increase does reach you, the store notifies you before it takes effect, and where the store or your local law requires it, the increase does not take effect unless you agree. If you do not agree, your subscription simply ends at the end of the current period and you return to the free tier.
  • Separately, a material reduction in what a paid subscription includes takes effect no earlier than your next renewal (see Changes).

Refunds

  • Refunds for store purchases are decided and paid by the store, under the store's policy, because the store took your payment. On Apple, sign in at reportaproblem.apple.com and choose “Request a refund”. On Google, refunds follow the Google Play refund policy.
  • If the store says no and you think that is wrong, contact us. We cannot take money out of your store account or put it back, but we can and will help in good faith, and where the law gives you a right to a refund, we will act on it with the store or directly, whichever the store's mechanisms allow.
  • No refund is owed simply for changing your mind after a period has started, except where the law says otherwise; the EU and UK withdrawal right below is the main case.
  • If we discontinue the Service, paid subscribers receive information about refunds of prepaid amounts for the unused period, handled through the store where the purchase was made.

If you are a consumer in Australia

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, including that services are supplied with due care and skill, are fit for any purpose you told us about, and are supplied within a reasonable time. Nothing in these Terms, and nothing in a store's refund policy, reduces those guarantees. If there is a major problem with Premium, you may cancel and get a refund; for a minor problem, we must fix it free of charge.

If you are a consumer in the EU, the EEA, or the UK

  • You have a 14-day right to withdraw from a distance contract without giving a reason, running from the day the contract is concluded.
  • For a subscription that starts immediately, that right can be lost early only where you gave prior express consent to immediate performance and acknowledged that you would lose the right. Apple and Google present those consents in their purchase flows.
  • A free trial and the withdrawal period overlap: the seven-day trial sits inside the 14-day window. If you withdraw within 14 days of subscribing you owe nothing, subject to the consent point above.
  • Nothing in these Terms reduces your statutory rights, including the conformity rights for digital content and services under your national law.

If you are in the United States

Several US states regulate automatically renewing subscriptions. Whatever state you are in, this is how we treat you: the offer screen states the plan, the price, the period, that it renews, how the trial converts, and how to cancel, before you buy and not in a footnote; the store's purchase sheet obtains your affirmative consent and sends you a receipt you can keep; cancellation is online, in your store account, one link away in the app; and any change to price or terms reaches you through the store's notice mechanism before it applies.

If your subscription ends: the downgrade promise

If your premium subscription or trial ends, for any reason, we apply one rule: ending premium changes only what may be newly requested. Nothing you were already given is removed, locked, or degraded. Concretely:

  • Prayers you kept while premium remain kept, readable, shareable, and deletable by you, even if you hold more kept prayers than the free tier's keep allowance. The allowance limits only new keeps.
  • Prayer continuations already generated remain visible.
  • A premium-quality prayer already written for you remains yours.
  • Audio already generated for a kept prayer keeps its voice.

We will never delete, lock, or hold hostage something you were given, and we will never tell you that your prayers will be lost if you do not pay, because it would not be true.

This promise is about downgrades. It never overrides a deletion you or the law require: a deletion you ask for (a single prayer, or your whole account); the automatic expiry of a prayer you chose not to keep, as the Privacy Policy describes; or a deletion we must perform to comply with the law or to keep the Service secure. Within those bounds, what you were given stays yours.

Acceptable use

Use Orison as it is meant to be used: as a personal prayer practice. You agree not to:

  • break the law, or use the Service to harm, harass, or defraud anyone;
  • probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service, bypass authentication, or access data or accounts that are not yours;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the app, except where the law gives you that right despite this term;
  • scrape the Service, access it with automated clients, or resell or redistribute it;
  • abuse the generation features, including attempting to evade the daily generation and “Pray more” limits, using the Service to bulk-generate content, or attempting to manipulate the underlying AI model into producing content outside the Service's purpose;
  • misuse the safety feature, including deliberately submitting false crisis signals to probe or game it;
  • interfere with other users' use of the Service or with our infrastructure.

We may throttle, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate this section.

Ending things

  • You can leave at any time by deleting your account in the app. Remember to cancel any store subscription separately; deleting the account does not stop store billing.
  • We can suspend or terminate your account if you materially breach these Terms (especially the sections on your intentions and acceptable use), if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Where reasonable, lawful, and safe, we will warn you and give you a chance to fix the problem first; for serious abuse we may act immediately.
  • If we terminate without cause or discontinue the Service, we will give you reasonable advance notice and, for paid subscribers, information about refunds of prepaid amounts for the unused period, handled through the store where the purchase was made.
  • What survives: the sections on boundaries (not medical care), your licence to your prayers for copies you already have, ownership of the Service, the store terms, disclaimers, limits on liability, governing law, and general terms survive termination.

Disclaimers and limits on our liability

If you are a consumer in Australia, read this first. Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, including that services are supplied with due care and skill, are fit for any purpose you told us about, and are supplied within a reasonable time. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies those guarantees, and the “as is” wording below does not apply to them.

If you are a consumer in the EU, the EEA, or the UK, read this first. For paid digital content and services you have mandatory legal guarantees and conformity rights under your national law, for example that what we provide matches how we describe it and is fit for its ordinary purpose. Nothing in these Terms excludes, limits, or reduces those rights. The “as is” wording below applies to you only to the extent your national law permits; wherever it would cut into a mandatory right, the mandatory right prevails and the disclaimer simply does not apply to you.

Disclaimer. Subject to the above, and to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Without limiting the section on boundaries above, we do not warrant that prayers will be doctrinally correct for your tradition, that astrological or BaZi content has predictive value, that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that the safety feature will detect or respond to any particular input.

What the limits below can never do. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including, where applicable law so provides, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, and any non-waivable consumer right. If you are a consumer in the EU, the EEA, the UK, or Australia, your mandatory statutory remedies come first, the monetary cap below does not apply to them, and the rest of this section binds you only to the extent your national law permits.

Limits. Subject to the above, and to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law: we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms; and, except where you are a consumer entitled to mandatory remedies as described above, our total aggregate liability will not exceed the greater of the amounts you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim and USD 100.

Governing law and disputes

  • Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New South Wales, Australia, excluding its conflict-of-law rules.
  • Consumers in the EU, the EEA, and the UK. You additionally enjoy the mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live. This choice of law does not deprive you of them, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence. Any proceedings we bring against you as a consumer will be brought in your country of residence.
  • Consumers in Australia. You have rights under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified by these Terms, and nothing in these Terms operates to exclude, restrict, or modify them.
  • Talk to us first. Most problems are fixable without lawyers. Write to care@orison.day.

Terms required by Apple and Google

If you downloaded Orison from the Apple App Store, the following terms apply, as required by Apple's instructions for developer end-user licence agreements:

  • Acknowledgement. These Terms are concluded between you and us only, not with Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the app and its content.
  • Scope of licence. Your licence to the app is non-transferable and limited to use on Apple-branded products that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store's Usage Rules, except that the app may be accessed and used by other accounts associated with you via Family Sharing or volume purchasing.
  • Maintenance and support. We are solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support for the app. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance and support services for it.
  • Warranty. We are solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent not effectively disclaimed. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app (if any) to you; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app, and any other warranty claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses are our responsibility.
  • Product claims. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the app or your possession or use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to legal or regulatory requirements, and claims under consumer protection, privacy, or similar legislation.
  • Intellectual property claims. In the event of a third-party claim that the app or your possession and use of it infringes that third party's intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement, and discharge of the claim.
  • Legal compliance. You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Developer contact. Questions, complaints, and claims about the app go to us: Orison Lab Pty Ltd, registered in New South Wales, Australia, at care@orison.day.
  • Third-party terms. You must comply with applicable third-party terms of agreement when using the app, for example your wireless data service agreement.
  • Third-party beneficiary. Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and upon your acceptance, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.

If you downloaded Orison from Google Play, your download and any purchases are also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service, and billing, cancellation, and refunds for Play purchases are handled through Google Play as described under Orison Premium subscriptions.

Changes to the service and to these terms

The Service will evolve; we may add, change, or remove features. Two promises constrain us: material changes that reduce what a paid subscription includes take effect no earlier than your next renewal, and the downgrade promise applies to feature removals in the same spirit.

If we change these Terms, we will publish a new version here, with its version and date at the top, and for material changes we will notify you in the app a reasonable time before they take effect, so you can stop using the Service or cancel before they apply to you. Continued use after the effective date is acceptance of the new version. We will never use a change to these Terms to quietly widen what we may do with your data; the Privacy Policy's own change rules govern that.

General

  • Entire agreement. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and any store terms that apply to your purchase are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
  • Severability. If a court finds part of these Terms unenforceable, the rest stays in force, and the unenforceable part is replaced with the closest enforceable expression of its intent.
  • No waiver. Our not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it.
  • Assignment. You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of the Service, and we will notify you if we do; the Privacy Policy's promises travel with your data.
  • Force majeure. Neither of us is liable for delay or failure caused by events beyond reasonable control.
